The working blacksmith shop at the end of the Starr Barn reproduces the atmosphere and conditions of its 1800 counterpart. The shop boasts an original 1804 bellows; a modern reproduction of the bellows is installed to bring a strong draft to the coal forge.
COOLEY BLACKSMITH SHOP
This circa 1870 farm blacksmith shop was originally on the Cooley Road outside of Beaver Dams, NY where it served the local farming community for many years. The Blacksmith shop was operated by the Cooley family and located on their farm. The wooden firebox on the forge has the name Cooley carved into it. Restoration of the shop is progressing. We hope to have it operational for the summer of 2010.
